| Hello, Everyone! Sorry it's taken so long to update. Things have been very busy. You'll find that's a norm in my life (and in almost everyone else's!) Anyway, here's a few explanations of our camp theme this year: "Drive On." When I asked my dad (camp director) about it, he said there are many ways that it can be applied biblically and here are the couple of examples he gave me. 1) The "drive" isn't going to be easy. "On" is what you have to stay: on course. 2) When you fall down, you have two choices: crash and burn, or suck it up, get up, and keep going (Drive On). There's more reasons, but if you want to hear about them you'll have to come to camp!!! Have a blessed day! In Christ, Emily xoxoxo |
| Hello, everyone! I am the new proprietor of the St. Luke's Camp website. I know that it seems like we're taking forever to get stuff together (not trying to make anyone feel bad) but it's not true. It's not taking forever, because if it was, there wouldn't be any camp this year. It's just taking a little longer than we had planned. But, as my dad says, "The Holy Ghost is at work." Life happens. It's been busy for everybody. So just chillax and enjoy your summer! No matter what your age is, you're not going to be able to do that forever, so do it while you can, and we'll get the details worked out while you're having so much fun. There is one new thing that I can tell you, though. The camp theme is going to be--wait. I should tell you where it comes from first. Just recently, my family spent Father's Day weekend at what us "seasoned veterans" call an "Appleseed". It's a program where they teach you how to be a "rifleman" (basically, they teach you how to shoot well.) It was a lot of fun. The man who was head instructor is a very patriotic, good guy. My dad (camp director) was impressed by something he said a lot: "Drive on." That's it. "Drive On." When I figure out what exactly it means, I'll make sure to post and tell you all. | St Luke's Camp – 2011 As I write this article, I realize we have just completed a winter weekend “get together” with some of the teen youth of the diocese AND it's snowing like crazy outside. What a terrific opportunity to talk about St. Luke's Camp this coming summer! While this year's topics are still being developed, I can share some of the pertinent details. That way those who may wish to attend or have their children or grand children attend can set time and resources aside when planning this coming summer's activities. Here's what we know:
The campers (and counselors) also enjoy some of the best “camp food” you'll ever experience. Keswick has a full kitchen staff and prepares some of the best food away from home on the planet! OK, I may have gone overboard, but it's pretty darn good! Check this website for the most up to date information about this year's camp. Pencil it in on your calendars. The middle of August is the perfect time for everyone to refocus their faith in Christ before heading back to school. We hope to see you (or your children) there.
